FAQ

Turnaround & Process

We turn around all quilts in 3–5 business days from the day we receive them. This is one of the fastest turnarounds in the industry — most longarm quilters have weeks or months-long wait lists.

If you have a specific deadline, just let us know when you contact us and we'll do our best to accommodate it.

It's simple:

  • Message us first — describe your quilt size, pattern preference, and any special needs.
  • We confirm — we reply the same day with your timeline, pattern, and thread color.
  • You ship to us — send your quilt top and backing (not layered) with tracking.
  • We quilt and return — we quilt it and ship back via UPS Ground within 3–5 business days of receiving it.

Yes — please message us before shipping. This lets us confirm your pattern, thread color, timeline, and any add-ons, and makes sure your spot is clear before your quilt arrives. Quilts that arrive without prior contact may experience delays.

Quilt Requirements

Always. No quilt is ever turned away. Many longarm quilters refuse quilts with imperfect piecing, wonky borders, or loose seams. Not here. If you're a beginner quilter, if your borders wave, if your seams aren't perfect — bring it. We work with what we receive, not against it.

Yes. Appliqué quilts are fully welcomed. Just mention that your quilt has appliqué when you message us so we can choose the right quilting pattern and approach for your top.

Our longarm machine handles quilts up to 100 inches wide and unlimited length. That covers everything from baby quilts to oversized kings. For quilts wider than 100 inches, contact us and we'll discuss options.

A few important things:

  • Send the quilt top and backing separately — do not layer or baste them.
  • Your backing should be at least 6–8 inches larger than your quilt top on all sides to allow for loading on the longarm.
  • Press your top and backing before shipping.
  • Trim any loose threads on the back of your quilt top.

See our Shipping Info page for full packing instructions.

Pricing & Payment

We charge $0.020 per square inch with a $65 minimum. For example:

  • Baby quilt (~1,600 sq in) — $65 minimum
  • Lap quilt (~4,000 sq in) — ~$80
  • Queen quilt (~8,100 sq in) — ~$162
  • King quilt (~10,000 sq in) — ~$200+

Thread and pattern are always included. No surprise charges. Use our cost calculator for an instant estimate.

Yes — always. Thread is included in every order at no extra charge. Quilting patterns from our Urban Elementz library (thousands of designs) are also always included — we never charge separately for pattern selection.

No payment is due when you submit an order. Tim reviews the details first and sends a secure Square invoice when it is time to pay.

For quilts, payment is usually sent after your quilt arrives and is inspected, before quilting begins. For rugs where you supply fabric, payment is sent after your fabric arrives and is checked. Custom rugs that require us to purchase fabric may require a fabric deposit before fabric is ordered. The deposit is applied to your order, and the final balance is due before shipping.

  • Square & Trim — $10. Quilt trimmed and squared after quilting, ready for binding.
  • Backing Piecing — $20. Use the backing calculator to buy/send the required yardage; Tim cuts and sews it to the backing size needed.
  • Batting — $0.0035 per square inch. Quality batting if you don't want to supply your own.
  • Custom Quilt Label — $10–$15. Embroidered label with name, date, and occasion.
  • Binding — quoted per quilt. Full binding service available.

Send us your first quilt and your per-square-inch rate is locked in forever. As long as you send at least one quilt every 12 months, you will never pay more than you paid on your very first order — no matter how much our prices change for new customers.

Shipping

Yes. We accept quilts from anywhere in the United States. You ship to us via any carrier (USPS, UPS, FedEx), and we return your finished quilt via UPS Ground with real-time tracking.

Return shipping is charged at the actual UPS cost — no markup. Every return shipment includes real-time tracking and $100 of included insurance. We recommend additional insurance for quilts valued over $200.

Yes — we strongly recommend it. Insure your quilt for the full value of your materials and time. Carriers are generally reliable, but insurance is inexpensive and gives you peace of mind. Always use a carrier that provides tracking.

Handmade Fabric Rugs

Each rug is made by hand, one at a time, from cotton fabric strips coiled and sewn into a rope-style rug. They're durable, washable, and completely one-of-a-kind. No two rugs are exactly alike.

Yes — jelly rolls welcome! Send 2.5" pre-cut strips, yardage you've cut yourself, or any cotton strips you have. We'll turn your fabric into a one-of-a-kind rug at the same price as standard orders. Use our rug fabric calculator to figure out how much you'll need.

Machine wash on gentle cycle in cold water. Lay flat or hang to dry — do not put in a dryer, as heat can cause the rug to shrink or distort. Most rugs hold up beautifully for years with proper care.
